100 Museums Challenge: Museum No.93 I don’t often write about exhibitions just as they are about to close, but today we FINALLY managed to make it to the much lauded Erwin Wurm exhibition at the Berlinische Galerie, on its penultimate day before it finishes. We had such a great time, that I quickly wanted to share a post about it for anyone currently in Berlin who either hadn’t heard of it or had been undecided about going – you still have one day left! 100 Museums Challenge: Museums No.91 During a rainy day on our seaside holiday last week, we drove to the town of Aurich to visit the children’s museum there, only to discover that it didn’t open until the afternoon. So we consulted out tourist map of the town and discovered, that there was a historic windmill and museum nearby. A short walk through the rain later, and we were standing in front of the ‘Mühlenfachmuseum Stiftsmühle Aurich’. The Stiftsmühle is the biggest corn mill in East Frisia and a symbol […]

Museum Diary is back from its summer break! And ready to jump right back in to things. 100 Museums Challenge: Museums No.86 We are currently on our summer vacation in Wuppertal, and the blog is meant to be having a bit of a break, but I wanted to share some pics from our museum trip yesterday. I was thrilled that we found the time to pop over to one of my favourite museums in Germany – the Deutsches Röntgen Museum, home to X-ray history, in the neighbouring town of Lennep. I’ve written about it extensively before, so I won’t go in to too much detail […]

Before Museum Diary heads off in to a little summer break, I wanted to give you the latest edition of our ‘Kids in Museums Book Club‘. So far, we’ve had books featuring both imaginary museums, as well as real life museums from Paris and London. This month, we travel to another real life museum in our reading: to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in New York City. We’re heading to New York for our Autumn holidays later this year, so I thought it would be fun […]

100 Museums Challenge: Museum No.84 During our recent little holiday in Scotland, we visited the Dundee Science Centre, a hands-on experience aimed at families. There was a special CSI exhibit that had just opened for the Scottish summer holidays, and runs until the end of August, so we jumped right in with the dig pit. Forget about dino digs, we were digging up (replica) human bones! After the kids had dug them up, cleaned with with brushes, and collected them in a bucket, they could […]
