Have you heard about the conference ‘We Are Museums’, which is taking place in Berlin from 31 May to 2 June? Now in its third year, the conference describes itself as follows: “We Are Museums is a human adventure at the intersection of culture and innovation. During two days, it gathers an active and creative community of professionals who meet, exchange and build together to open art institutions to the people. We Are Museums is a self-sufficient, vibrant platform which promotes smart and forward thinking […]

Confession time. Last Saturday was the ‘Lange Nacht der Museen‘ (Long Night of Museums) in Berlin and ‘Museums at Night’ in other countries too. Sunday was International Museums Day. All in all, possibly the most important weekend of the year for a museoligist, museum blogger and all round museogeek. And I did not visit one single museum! Instead, I was in Copenhagen attending ‘The Hive’ – the European blogging conference. Museums only really got a mention, if I was the one talking about them. I did, […]

I just spent a fun weekend at BLOGST, the German Blog Conference, in Essen. Ironically, it meant I didn’t get round to doing any blogging, especially as I was also travelling with #MuseumBaby. So here are a few pictures from the weekend to share with you, while I work on my next museum-filled post. Well, Amsterdam was everything I imagined it to be. I fell in love with it on the spot. But more on Amsterdam later, let’s start with ‘Meet the Blogger’. ‘Meet the Blogger’ was an event aimed at interior design and lifestyle bloggers, so I knew I would be in the minority […]

I’ve been asked before, why there aren’t more museums from the Netherlands featured on my blog. The reason is, that despite spending numerous holidays there when I was younger, these were all in small seaside towns and apart from the Schiphol Airport I have never visited any museums there. But that’s about to change! End of this month I am flying to Amsterdam for a few days. Primarily to attend ‘Meet the Blogger’, but since it’s also my birthday that weekend before (hint, hint), I’ve […]

“If you don’t feel it, don’t blog it!”

As I mentioned last week, this past weekend The Hive European Blog Conference took place here in Berlin, and I was honoured to be one of the speakers. But first we kicked things off with a pre-conference visit on Friday to the Jewish Museum Berlin, which had kindly offered some free tickets to a small group of The Hive delegates. After some coffee and cake in the museum’s beautiful glass courtyard, we spent around 1.5 hours exploring the museum together from top to bottom. The […]
