It’s that time of year again, and this time it’s kind of crept up on me – tomorrow is Berlin’s annual Lange Nacht der Museen, or Long Night of Museums, in its 36th edition. 77 museums are taking part, with around 700 events to chose from. All that for just one ticket, which also included the use of public transport. Our Highlights for Families Last year, I took #MuseumBoy with me for the first time, and we had a grand time together. Officially, the evening […]

100 Museums Challenge: Museum No.93 I don’t often write about exhibitions just as they are about to close, but today we FINALLY managed to make it to the much lauded Erwin Wurm exhibition at the Berlinische Galerie, on its penultimate day before it finishes. We had such a great time, that I quickly wanted to share a post about it for anyone currently in Berlin who either hadn’t heard of it or had been undecided about going – you still have one day left! Museum Diary is back from its summer break! And ready to jump right back in to things. If you’ve been following the blog for a while, you may remember my post about the ‘babies in museums’ initiative I worked together on with the Stadtmuseum Berlin. 100 Museums Challenge: Museum No.82 Last week, I was invited to take part in an ’empty walk’ instameet around the Jewish Museum Berlin after hours. For those not familiar with the concept, an instameet is a meetup of Instagrammers, i.e. photographers active on the social media platform Instagram, and an empty walk is when you get to explore a place when it’s closed, with no other visitors there. Despite it being among my top most visited museums every year for the past five years while […]

100 Museums Challenge: Museum No.73 Last Sunday, I was lucky enough to join an #instawalk around the #emptykunstgewerbemuseum in Berlin, after having won a spot for it through an Instagram competition. If I’m talking in riddles to you, let me explain. An instawalk is an event where you go around together and post pictures on Instagram along the way. And an emptywalk is one, where you visit somewhere after hours after all the other visitors have gone. In this case, we were meeting at the […]

100 Museums Challenge: Museums No.72 For months now, I’ve been featuring the Saturday drop-in ‘Bauhaus_lab‘ craft workshops at Berlin’s Bauhaus Archiv in my listings of museum highlights for kids and families, and last Saturday I finally managed to take my own kid along! The workshops take place on Saturdays from 11am to 2pm, in the Bauhaus Pavilion, which is separate from the actual museum itself though on the same site. It’s free to take part, and you don’t need to book in advance or turn […]
