100 Museums Challenge: Museum No.44, 45 & 46 When I mentioned I was heading to Madrid to speak at a conference and would have some additional time for sightseeing, and asked what ‘must see’ recommendations people had for me, I received several recommendations for ‘The Big Three’: the Prado, the Reina Sofia, and the Thyssen. I wasn’t sure if I would have time to see all three, especially as there were some other ‘hidden gems’ I had my eye on, but the Reina Sofia was […]

Recently,  I launched a new series here on the blog called ‘Meet a Museum Family’, in which I will be interviewing other museum loving families, and asking them to share their experiences and tips with my readers. I am really delighted that the first three interviews, with Melanie from Copenhagen, with Amanda from Australia, and with Mar from England, got such a great reception! I hope you enjoy the rest of the series just as much. This week, we travel back to Copenhagen to talk to Ania.  1. Why […]

We’ve almost reached the end of August, but with a little bit of luck it’s not the end of summer. Or maybe we’ll have a golden Autumn. And yes, Barcelona does have many art museums, but please keep in mind that these are all personal recommendations and my personal […]

March 31, 2013

There’s a museum for everything these days, so it wasn’t that hard to put together a list of Easter related museums. Most of these I haven’t been to yet myself, but some of them are definitely going on my ‘must visit’ list! 1. Located in Sonnenbühl, near Stuttgart, is Germany’s Osterei-Museum (Easter Egg Museum). Opened in 1993, the museum “revolves around the egg content and its importance in the Christian tradition as well as the decorated egg as a cultural object in many cultures worldwide.” […]

Jenni’s Museum Awards 2012

January 9, 2013

This time last year, I did an extensive review of my ‘52 Museums in 52 Weeks‘ challenge. And I held my very own ‘Museum Awards’ for 2011 by choosing my top 3 museums in each of several categories (here and here). I thought it would be fun to do the same again, though I’ve cut it back a little year to choosing just one candidate for each category – which was not easy to do, believe me! Actually, it was difficult not choosing the National […]
