100 Museums Challenge: Museum No.82
Last week, I was invited to take part in an ’empty walk’ instameet around the Jewish Museum Berlin after hours. For those not familiar with the concept, an instameet is a meetup of Instagrammers, i.e. photographers active on the social media platform Instagram, and an empty walk is when you get to explore a place when it’s closed, with no other visitors there.
Despite it being among my top most visited museums every year for the past five years while we lived next door, since moving to another part of town my attendance there has gone right down. So I was doubly pleased to have an excuse to make a trip over there.
Since the theme of the instameet was ‘Between the Lines’, exploring the architecture of the Daniel Libeskind building, we didn’t actually go in to the exhibitions themselves, but it was a great opportunity to take a focused look at this spectacular and unique building. I hope you enjoy my photos from the evening!
To end the instawalk, we convened at the Jewish Museum Berlin’s Academy building across the road, where an amazing little buffet and drinks awaited us, along with a hand stamped goodie bag – the perfect addition to my museum tote bag collection! Thank you so much to the Jewish Museum Berlin for inviting me. It was a wonderful evening.
