A Postcard from…Budapest

January 23, 2015

As you can imagine, things are quite busy at Museum Diary HQ, with #MuseumBaby to look after and his highly energetic brother, #MuseumBoy, to keep happy too! I’m working on new blog posts where I can (‘sleep blog when the baby sleeps’), but as you may remember, at the beginning of January I also announced a new series of guest posts. As much as I would love to travel the world and visit every single museum along the way, that’s not going to happen, so I’ve asked some of my friends and fellow bloggers to share some of their favourite museums that I haven’t been to with me and my readers, in a series of digital postcards. First up is  lovely Giova from the blog One Bunting Away, who lives in Amsterdam but likes to travel, e.g. to Hungary where her postcard is from.

Dear Jenni,

The Post Office Museum in Budapest is one I think you’ll love. It is a small museum but with a beautifully curated collection, especially those very colorful mailboxes. I think the mailboxes that are still in use throughout the city is what made me look out for this museum. That and my love of mail. It is not a very well known museum and a bit out of the way, so I really hope you can make it one day.

Best Wishes,

P.S: They sell very beautiful stamps here, even though there is no gift shop.

You can read more about the Budapest Post Office Museum on One Bunting Away, where Giova blogs about crafty things, snail mail goodness, her travels, and the wonderful random occurrences in her life.
