Earlier this week, we hosted an event over at Museum140 to celebrate ‘Museums on Instagram‘. The aim was to raise awareness of museums using Instagram, encourage more museums to sign up, share favourite museum Instagram pics, and get everyone visiting museums and posting lots of new photos from their visits. In short, we wanted to create a buzz around museums on Instagram! Looking at the stats, it looks like we succeeded:
- over 2,700 tweets with the hashtag #InstaMuseum were sent and the hashtag trended in 15 different countries around the world
- we added over 180 new entries to our database of museums on Instagram, bringing the current total to 328
- in the 24 hours after the start of the event on Tuesday morning, over 1500 new #InstaMuseum pics were posted to Instagram!
I was busy instagramming too, of course. Since I was also managing the event, I didn’t have the time to go out to a museum and take new photos on the day, so instead I shared my favourite photos of museums around the world from my archives. Here are my #InstaMuseum pics – I hope you enjoy them!
