Party like a Dino!

March 12, 2014

This month, the Children’s Museum Indianapolis is celebrating the 10th birthday of its Dinosphere, an immersive paleontology exhibit that takes you inside the sights, sounds, and smells of the Cretaceous Period. To mark the occasion the museum’s social media team is hosting a Twitter Party today (12 March), and everybody is invited! I thought this would be an excellent excuse to round up some party guests and share some of my favourite museum dinosaurs with you.

First up, there’s this fierce specimen from the dinosaur hall at the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. Rwarr!!

And here in Berlin at the Museum für Naturkunde, we have the world’s largest mounted dinosaur, a Brachiosaurus named Oskar. The Guinness Book of Records certificate is displayed proudly next to it :)

Last but not least, there’s the National Museum of Scotland, which does have a T-rex that features quite prominently, but personally I prefer the beautiful Stegosaurus in the Adventure Planet gallery. Though if you love a T-rex, you can see one live in action at the museum on my Vimeo channel ;)

So, I hope that’s got you in the mood to #PartyLikeADino! What would you give a dinosaur for its birthday? Be as creative or funny as you’d like! Your gift could be anything from a simple shout out, to a photo, video, blog, or something completely different. Think outside the box! Just join in on Twitter with the hashtag, and give a shout out to @TCMIndy. And you can follow me on Twitter @jennifuchs to find out what virtual birthday ‘gifts’ I’ll be sending ;)
