“Aren’t You Bored Yet?”

May 22, 2013

I’m super excited right now, because this is the week of The Hive – European Blog Conference. It took place in Berlin last year for the first time, and is making a repeat to Germany’s capital. I attended it last year too, but this year I actually get to give a presentation! So you can see why I am excited. I think it goes without saying that I’ll be speaking on the topic of being a museum blogger, though my presentation will also address some of the challenges of ‘niche blogging’ in general.

As you may or may not know, I love my check lists, so anyone coming to hear my presentation can expect some practical ‘take away’ tips to check off and try out on their own blogs. And for those of you unfortunate enough not to be in Berlin or at the Hive, I’ll be posting a copy of my presentation here after the event. Even if you don’t write a blog of your own, you might be interested in finding out about the challenges of a niche blogger.

The rest of the programme looks great too, and Peggy and Yvonne, the initiators of The Hive, have done a really great job of pulling everything together. But before the conference kicks off on Saturday, there’s some pre-Hive events to attend starting Friday afternoon. Since the venue of The Hive is right here in Kreuzberg, the lovely people at the Jewish Museum Berlin next door have offered a small group of us free tickets to go and visit (museums, take note, this is how you do good blogger relations!). With everyone blogging from a different perspective – travel, design, culture – it will be interesting to go together and exchange our experiences afterwards. And then in the evening there’s the speakers’ dinner. So excited probably doesn’t quite cover it. Right, I’m off now to figure out what to wear…
