Museum Diary isn’t the only one looking at museum inspired cocktails this week. Earlier in the week, the National Museum of Scotland put out a call for suggestions to name the new cocktail for their next late night event: RBS Museum Lates Dino Night! So there were lots of other dinosaur themed cocktail names floating around Twitter and Facebook, just as I had posted my Green Dinosaur recipe, such as
- Rex on the Beach
- Long Island Ice T-rex
- Jurassic Juice
- Fossil Fuel
- Dino-mite
The guys from National Galleries Scotland really outdid themselves with their suggestions, which included stego-midori-saurus (which could have been a good alternative for my Midori flavoured Green Dinosaur), velociRUMaptor, and TheropVodKA. Whilst Museums Studies Reading chipped in with ptero-dacquiri.
Moving away from the dinosaurs, there was also a suggestion from @MuseumTweets in the USA, for a a “Typewriter Eraser” – a mashup of a Mind Eraser cocktail (equal amounts of vodka, coffee liqueur and soda or tonic water), renamed for the Claes Oldenburg/ Coosje van Bruggen sculpture at the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden in Washington, D.C.
Other museum inspired cocktails suggestions included the MOMArtini, an Uf-fizz-i (lots of prosecco) and a Louvre Island Iced Tea. It’s been a really fun week. Please keep sharing your ideas, perhaps we’ll have a Museum Mixology contest some time ;)
And don’t forget to check back tomorrow for my final cocktail recipe for this week!
