Music to visit Museums in Washington, D.C. by

March 29, 2013

Since my first “Music to visit Museums by” playlist was received so well, I’ve been encouraged to continue making some more. The next in the series has been inspired by our visit to Washington, D.C. – every museum lover’s dream – and its many museums, galleries and monuments. Even if you don’t have the chance to visit D.C.’s museums in person, I hope you still enjoy the playlist!

Track listing:

  1. Washington, D.C. – The Magnetic Fields (Welcome to D.C.)
  2. Star Spangled Banner – Julie Roberts (National Museum of American History, home of the original Star Spangled Banner)
  3. Diamonds Are Forever – Shirley Bassey (National Museum of Natural History, home of the Hope Diamond)
  4. Please Mr Postman – The Carpenters (National Postal Museum)
  5. Amelia Earhart – Charlie Waller and The Country Gentlemen (National Air and Space Museum)
  6. Space Oddity – David Bowie (National Air and Space Museum; I couldn’t decide between ‘Air’ and ‘Space’ so I included both)
  7. Working on the Building – Elvis Presley (National Building Museum)
  8. The Last of the Secret Agents – Nancy Sinatra (International Spy Museum)
  9. Here is the News – Electric Light Orchestra (Newseum)
  10. When I Paint My Masterpiece – Bob Dylan (a multitude of art galleries and museums)
  11. At the Library – Green Day (Library of Congress)
  12. James K. Polk – They Might Be Giants (various presidential monuments around the National Mall; not sure Polk has one, but at least he gets to feature in the playlist^^)
