It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

November 19, 2012

…okay, perhaps not quite like Christmas, but it’s not long now until Advent begins. As many of you know, as well as this blog I run an independent initiative called Museum140, which brings together museum lovers and museums through social media projects. Well, once a year we also like to do a little something just for fun, and this year we have two festive activities for you to get involved with:

1) The Christmas Bauble Contest 2012 – the first 20 people to sign up will be sent a plastic bauble to decorate. You can then either send back the finished bauble, if you like, or a photograph of your masterpiece (we realise sending the bauble back involves costs and we don’t want to exclude anyone), and then everyone gets to vote for their favourite bauble. There are two goody bags to be won, one for the bauble with the most votes, and one winner picked at random from all the voters. The deadline to sign up for decorating a bauble is Wednesday 21 November.

2) Back by popular demand, we are running Secret Santa 2.0 again this year. Once you’ve signed up to take part, you in turn receive the name and address of someone you then have to send a surprise parcel to in time for Christmas. It can be either something you’ve bought or, if you’re feeling creative, something you made, along with a Christmas greeting. It’s about fun and sharing and surprises, not about spending a fortune, so the recommended value for parcels is around £5/ $5/ €5 (plus postage). The deadline to sign up for Secret Santa is Friday 30th November.

To sign up for either, or both, you can visit the Museum140 blog or just leave a comment here on this post and I’ll be in touch to get your details. Thanks.
