Berlin on Fire!

I’m just preparing my first Armenian museum blog post for tomorrow, but as a wee bonus post this week I wanted to share some pictures with you that I took at an event in downtown Berlin tonight. As I mentioned  the other week, Berlin has been celebrating its 775th birthday, and tonight was the grand finale – “precisely 775 years [to the day] after the first documented reference to the settlement which today has become a cosmopolitan city.”(1) To mark the occasion, Berlin’s historical centre around the Nikoleiviertel was set alight with twilight fire installations by the world renowned company Carabosse. We first encountered Carabosse in December 2009 for Edinburgh’s Hogmanay celebrations, so it was quite fun to come across them again here in Berlin. And their installations were just as beautiful as before. See for yourselves:
