Gluten Free Banana Bread

And it’s a perfectly easy addition to ‘My Museum Cafe‘. Ingredients (wheat free & gluten free) 150g brown sugar 4 medium or 3 large eggs, beaten 100g melted butter 2 heaped teaspoons gluten free baking powder 250g gluten free flour (e.g. Schär or Dove’s Farm) 1/2 teaspoon salt 3 ripe bananas, peeled and mashed Directions: Preheat your […]

I hope you’ve been enjoying Museum Cocktail Week, though judging by the reactions on Twitter I’d hazard a guess it’s been a winner. So what have I got for you to round off this week? People are coming up with lots of fun names for museum inspired cocktails, I may do a round up later in the week. This next cocktail was inspired by my most favourite museum in the world – the National Museum of Scotland. In fact, not so much inspired as it was the cocktail featured at their Night of the Vikings event in February. Not only did the […]

When I stumbled per chance across the ‘Museum of the American Cocktail‘ online a couple of months, and read they were planning to celebrate ‘World Cocktail Week’ this week, I thought it would be fun to think of a related feature for Museum Diary. When I started researching museums + cocktails a bit more, I discovered that museum and art inspired cocktails are quite the thing. The blog ‘World Curious Traveler‘ writes about Art on the Rocks, an event at the Torpedo Factory arts centre in […]

Marbled Chocolate Brownie Cheesecake

It’s time for another round of My Museum Cafe, and I’m thinking a chocolate recipe is called for. This cake is one of the few reasons that might convince me why museum cafes shouldn’t cater to special diets, because it they all sold cakes like this my waistline would be in serious danger! I can’t remember where the original recipe came from, I think I noted it down at a friend’s house, but I’ve changed it so many times since then it’s become a new […]
