100 Museums Challenge: Museum No.93 I don’t often write about exhibitions just as they are about to close, but today we FINALLY managed to make it to the much lauded Erwin Wurm exhibition at the Berlinische Galerie, on its penultimate day before it finishes. We had such a great time, that I quickly wanted to share a post about it for anyone currently in Berlin who either hadn’t heard of it or had been undecided about going – you still have one day left! Happy New Year!

Happy New Year everyone! I hope you all had a good time celebrating. We had a quiet evening in doors with some drinks and snacks in front of the TV, hiding away from the fireworks. They go a bit over the top here in Berlin, starting at about 6pm on New Year’s Eve and going on until at least 2am on New Year’s Day. Of course, the biggest bangs are around midnight, when it feels a bit like Armageddon, with people shooting off fireworks in […]

Apologies for the #kidsinmuseums heavy week, but I’ve been solo parenting since last Thursday while the husband is on a well deserved holiday in Scotland, so there has been a lot of one on one time with #MuseumBaby. And, as you know, museums are always my refuge J Though, actually, it’s the boy who has been leading the way on our museum visits. Berlinische Galerie Buchstabenfeld

Picture the following: It’s Sunday. You’ve been up since 7am with #MuseumBaby. You’ve both showered, got dressed, had breakfast and watched at least three episodes of Postman Pat. Two of those are repeats of episodes you already saw yesterday. It’s now 9am. #MuseumBaby is going a bit stir crazy but it’s the husband’s turn to sleep in and there’s still an hour until noise making is allowed. So, you wrap yourselves up and head to the playground out the back of your block – and […]

52 Museums in 52 Weeks

This time last year I had the idea that, as a challenge for the year, I would try to visit 52 museums in 52 weeks. However, with #MuseumBaby to look after I didn’t know how feasible this project was or whether I’d just end up being one of those mums who visits the National Museum of Scotland every other day because it’s free and it’s raining again outside. Turns out, a bit of both as the case was. But, either way, I didn’t tell anyone […]

11 Museum Photos on 11/11/11

Earlier in the week I wrote about our new Museum140 project Museum Exposure (#MusExp11), which invited everyone to help capture museum activity around the world on 11/11/11. Of course, I also too part myself. Click on the thumbnails to view the images in full size. I started my #MusExp11 day by capturing the museum-y view from our balcony: to the right a giant advert pointing towards the Berlinische Galerie, Berlin’s museum for modern art, architecture and photography. To the left, the Academy building of the Jewish Museum […]
