It’s been a while since I blogged about kids museum books. There was just so much going on, I didn’t find the time to prepare new book reviews. But now it’s time to resurrect the Kids in Museums Book Club, and I’m starting off with a book for the very little ones. I had to try hard not to laugh at his serious face. He’d watched his big brother helping me out with some book review pics for my Instagram feed, and wanted to have a […]

After a bit of a hiatus, I am delighted to reintroduce my ‘Meet a Museum Family‘ series for another round. Previously, we met museum loving families from Denmark, Australia, England, Germany, Canada and Spain. Today, we travel back to Germany, to meet our first family from Berlin. 1. Last month, I was invited by the Stadtmuseum Berlin to the launch of their new exhibition [Probe]Räume at the Märkisches Museum. The museum is preparing to go through a redevelopment, with expected closures from 2020 onwards, and is using the time in the run up to that to experiment with new formats – [Probe]Räume literally means [Rehearsal]Rooms. But before I go, I have a little Christmas present for you, to thank you all for reading and supporting my blog this year. After a bit of a summer of a summer hiatus, the Kids in Museums Book Club is back. And since we are heading to New York for the Autumn school holidays, the book club is heading there too. This is the first time I’ve chosen a book with no words in it at all, but both my 2 year old and my 6 year old love ‘You Can’t Take a Balloon Into The Metropolitan Museum’, by Jacqueline Preiss Weitzman and Robin Preiss Glasser. We make […]

100 Museums Challenge: Museums No.91 During a rainy day on our seaside holiday last week, we drove to the town of Aurich to visit the children’s museum there, only to discover that it didn’t open until the afternoon. So we consulted out tourist map of the town and discovered, that there was a historic windmill and museum nearby. A short walk through the rain later, and we were standing in front of the ‘Mühlenfachmuseum Stiftsmühle Aurich’. The Stiftsmühle is the biggest corn mill in East Frisia and a symbol […]
