The last few playlists in the series of ‘Music to Visit Museums By‘ have been inspired by types of museums, so I thought it was time for another playlist inspired by a city. Like the previous place inspired list ‘Music to visit Museums in Washington, D.C. by‘, Berlin is a museum lover’s dream. Whether you have the chance to visit Berlin’s wonderful museums, or are dreaming of Berlin’s museums from afar, I hope you enjoy the museum-inspired eclectic selection. There are plenty of movies to choose from, where museums feature prominently. In others, museums only make a fleeting appearance, but still those short scenes can often be pivotal. Such as in the movie Bridge to Terabithia (2007), based on a children’s novelof the same name from 1977 by Katherine Paterson. Bridge to Terabithia is the story of two junior high school kids, both considered outsiders by their peers, who forge a tentative friendship and lose themselves in the fantasy world they create. So, I’ve never seen either of the ‘Despicable Me’ animated movies, but I was aware of who the Minions are. I was very saddened last week by the news that a blogger friend had lost her brave long-time battle against leukaemia. Inga and I never met in real life, but we had communicated a few times via email after connecting through an online blogging course, and I had become an avid reader and fan of her gardening blog ‘Glomery Lane’. She was known in the blogging community as the ‘flower girl’, and so I would like to dedicate my latest playlist in the series ‘Music to […]

Museums & the Movies: The Mummy

You can’t go for long discussing museums and movies before you come across Ancient Egypt and mummies (in fact, we’ve already come across this theme in a previous edition of my ‘Museums & the Movies’ series). One significant movie in this genre is The Mummy itself, which features a museum that makes several appearances. Actually, so does its sequel, but one movie at a time! The Mummy (1999) Location: Cairo, Egypt Starring: Museum of Antiquities For those not familiar with the story, The Mummy starts […]
