{India} Sulabh International Museum of Toilets: Curious Collection #4

April 16, 2011

National Museum of Flight - Concord - Toilet Service

You may remember a recent blog post about curious museum collections, to coincide with the Curiouser and Curiouser symposium run by the PhD Community at the University of Leicester’s Department of Museum Studies. And if so, you may remember that Curious Collection #4 was conspicuous by its absence. This was partly to point towards the curious superstition about the number four held in some Asian countries, and partly because I could not decide on what the final curious collection should be. I have now found a worthy contender in the Sulabh International Museum of Toilets, based in New Delhi, India. As their website says, “Ever wondered what a museum dedicated entirely to the history of toilets would be like? If that peculiar question ever crossed your mind – seek professional help!” Indeed. Or go and visit the museum!
