{Scotland} History in Unexpected Places

Scotland

We were up in the Highlands at the weekend, where I was surprised to see this ‘Original Jacobite Claymore’ pinned above the ladies toilets when we went for lunch at Morangie House Hotel. I guess I’m just so used to seeing these kind of things in museum display cases after they’ve faced several rounds against a conservator. Which begs the question, should all historical artefacts belong in a museum, or is it just as valid to have them pinned to a hotel wall where a substantial flow of visitors will also pass by them? How many original claymores are there to go round?
