{England} Wildlife Photographer of the Year

February 1, 2010

The Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition, now in its 46th year, is jointly owned and run by the BBC Wildlife Magazine and the Natural History Museum in London. The winning and commended entries from the 2009 competition are currently on show at the museum until 11 April and the exhibition is well worth a visit. Sadly the entry from the overall competition winner has been disqualified and removed, but this still leaves dozens of other stunning images to peruse and admire. If you can’t make it to London, the museum’s website also has an online gallery where you can vote for your favourite image. My personal favourites include ‘Fungal Forest’, a highly commended entry in the 11-14 year old category,  and ‘Starling Wave’, the winner in the adults ‘Nature in Black and White’ category.
